Introduction

Ænergy is a company that develops energy systems based on renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. They are clients of Webko and wanted to expand their website. The expansion involved a career page with an accompanying job posting and application system.

Before the expansion, Ænergy already had a visual identity, which naturally needed to be followed in the development of the task. There was no existing design for the page or the system, so I was responsible for the layout and setup in collaboration with Webko's talented designer, Simon, who oversaw the task.

System

Custom post type

The system is based on a custom post type, created in Advanced Custom Fields.

A post is a job posting, where there are fields for the job title, start date, application deadline, excerpt, and a job description. Additionally, you can choose who should receive applications for the given job posting, so they are sent to the right person.

By using this post type, it's easy and quick for Ænergy to set up new job postings when they are hiring.

Career

To present the job postings, a career page was set up, which can be found in their primary menu. In this career page, there is a post loop that automatically fetches new job postings. These are displayed in a list format.

Each job posting gets its own box in the list, where the title of the job posting and the excerpt are fetched from the respective job posting. These boxes are links that lead to a page automatically created for each post.

Jobopslag side

På de enkelte jobopslag bliver alt den relevante information hentet ind i to kolonner.

One column contains the more factual details, such as the start date and application deadline, as well as a call to action where people can apply for the job. This CTA opens their email program with the subject field filled out with "Application: [job title]", and the recipient selected for the specific posting.

The second column primarily consists of the job description, which in some cases can be quite lengthy. Therefore, there is also a call to action at the bottom, as well as a button to return to the career page if one is interested in several positions.
